At this point in their studies, students are able to interact
with growing confidence in familiar situations and apply their
growing range of language-learning strategies more consistently.
They are able to take more risks while engaging in spontaneous
interactions using internalized vocabulary and structures. Developing
descriptive abilities include linking and sequencing of narrative.
Students are familiar with a wide range of strategies that enable
them to select and retrieve information from a variety of sources,
including print, radio, TV, Internet, and speakers. The forms
and skills students use to apply and convey information for particular
purposes and audiences are increasingly important. Students
respond to a variety of creative works by means of oral interactions,
journal entries, résumés, and short written texts. Students explore
and experience the Francophone culture in countries in addition to
Canada by learning about their history, through exposure to
culturally appropriate language and behaviours, and by an introduction
to the various art forms and to simplified or adapted literary texts.
