D.W. Poppy has a well established Language Department which focusses on the study of the French and German languages with a record of high student achievement.

Mr. Sallenbach has been a language teacher for a quarter of a century with a bachalor's degree in French literature and linguistics, as well as a master's degree in educational leadership and administration with an emphasis on the impact of assessment on student achievement. He has led numerous workshops locally and provincially on classroom management, teaching and learning strategies as well as school and district improvement initiatives. He has a passion for languages being conversant in French and Italian, and believes all students can learn at high levels of achievements when all the support structures are in place.
